![]() ![]() Whether or not they succeed when Spyro is released this October will be up to you to judge. Insomniac and Universal will attempt to temper the cute-n-cuddly factor with brain-draining platform-style gameplay. Spyro the Dragon could be the sleeper hit of the season, but, then again, he may suffer the curse of Yoshi: too cute for his own good. And if Spyro sounds familiar, it's because his voice-overs are done by Carlos Alazraqui, who does voices for Rocko's Modern World and for the Chihuahua in the Taco Bell commercials. By swiveling Spyro's head, you'll fire up close-ups with a 180-degree field of view in any direction.Īs if all this wasn't enough, the early version played audio that actually rocked, thanks in large part to music composed by former Police-man, Stewart Copeland. In the prelim CD, some jewels revealed their hiding places by the merest twinkle in a far-off hillside.ĭuring gameplay, you'll also be able to pull a few camera tricks, rotating the cam around Spyro 360 degrees and playing from any angle. Spyro will also show off impressive proprietary graphics technology that enables the game designers to create amazingly smooth background textures for nicely detailed long-distance views. ![]() Moreover, speaking of animation-quality graphics, Insomniac and Universal not only had the game animation running at 30 frames per second, but they're also using a new compression technique that allows them to store twice as many frames of animation than normal. The preview CD displayed Spyro with silky-smooth character graphics and cartoon-like animation. The graphics in the early disc revealed a lush fantasy land that looked like something out of an animated feature film. Spyro, his moves, and his worlds were beautifully cast with gorgeous graphics and impressive sounds in the pre-release CD. Spyro will be protected by his sidekick, Sparks the dragonfly, a sort of rechargeable insect shield that runs interference for him against the bad guys. He can also pull some slick moves, such as a long-distance power glide, a ram-chargin' run, and a variety of cool-looking body rolls. He'll be packing Gnorc-wupping power in his fiamethrowing breath and a headbutt that's practically unstoppable. ![]() When it comes to combat, Spyro will definitely be no flaggin' dragon. According to Sony, if you find everything, you'll unlock a hidden level. He'll have to defeat a wacked-out army of reptilian henchmen in order to recover pilfered jewels and retrieve stolen dragon eggs, too. Yet Spyro will have to find more than just his lost dragon brethren if he's going to get a crack at Gnasty. The adventure covers the gamut of environments, including deserts, ice lands, and even underwater worlds. You'll have to track down your crystallized homies, all 80 of whom are hidden in 30 geographically diverse areas. Gnasty's transformed all dragons into crystal statues, which are scattered across six massive worlds. Playing as the plucky dragon cub, Spyro, you will be on a quest to free your fellow dragons from a nasty spell cast by an obnoxious gno-goodnik named Gnasty Gnorc. In preview form, Spyro the Dragon unveiled a wondrously mystical world, with smooth gameplay and animation that compelled you to pick up a Dual Shock controller just to watch the little guy move! As megahits-in-the-making such as Crash Bandicoot: Wanted, Tomb Raider, and Metal Gear Solid prepare to make their holiday rush, there's another PlayStation game that just might glide into your world-Spyro the Dragon.Įven in its early stages, Spyro is shaping up to be a primo platform adventure epic that appears to be trying to answer the question: just how pretty can a PlayStation game be? As it did with Crash Bandicoot, Sony Computer Entertainment of America looks ready to score with another collaborative PlayStation development effort, this time with Insomniac Games and Universal Interactive Studios. ![]() ![]()

But they all had seen that Challenger behaviours were trainable, and could serve to improve the performance of all sales people. And, as the book points out, the impact of Challenger behaviours is far less significant in transactional sales than in complex sales environments. ![]() For example, winning the all important breakthrough first sale in a new account might particularly benefit from a Challenger mind-set – but maintaining the account was perhaps less dependent on that skillset. But equally, not all sales roles are a dependent on Challenger skills. Here are a few: Q: What about the sales people who are not natural Challengers?Īll the panellists acknowledged that not all of their sales people were natural Challengers – in fact the consensus was around 20-30%. The most experienced of the three panellists described significant success in reaching out to key decision makers, differentiating their offerings and driving revenue growth in a tough and competitive market.Īll had seen sufficient progress to believe that taking a Challenger approach had been the right strategy for their organisations – but each of them had learned some invaluable lessons along the way, and shared them in response to audience questions. It was fascinating to hear the panellist’s learnings around their Challenger journey. And they go on to suggest that these Challenger behaviours are trainable. They go on to unpick the winning behaviours that set Challengers apart from the rest, and conclude that they include their ability to approach customers with unique insights and relevant insights, to tailor the message to the customer’s specific situation, and take control of the conversation in a confident, assertive way. Needless to say, their real-world experiences were very illuminating…īy the way, if you haven’t yet read “The Challenger Sale,” I urge you to get yourself a copy – it’s one of my all-time favourite sales books, and it’s caused a number of sales organisations to fundamentally (and successfully) re-think their approach to complex sales.įor those unfamiliar with the concept, the authors of “The Challenger Sale” identify 5 distinct sales profiles, and go on to prove that one (“The Challenger”) dramatically outperforms all other profiles in complex B2B sales environments, including the “Relationship Builder” profile that has traditionally been associated with sales success. One of the authors, Nick Toman, gave a quick-fire introduction to the fascinating research into B2B buying behaviour that led to the breakthrough thinking encapsulated in the book.īut just as interesting was the subsequent panel discussion featuring representatives from some of the UK’s largest and most respected corporations, describing the lessons they had learned from putting the principles behind the author’s previous book “The Challenger Sale” into practice. ![]() ![]() This just shows that TomTom does not have it together at all for the US market and I am so glad I didn't waste a hundred bucks on the APP. The service rep said "Well it appears that your unit is still in warranty", after I stopped laughing I asked her if she was familiar with the product. I called TomTom and it took over an hour to get someone on the phone and they were no help at all. After exchanging my car kit and found no improvement with the hands-free, I decided to return it for a full refund and wait for the Magellan and see if it is any better. Update: I tried the car kit in different vehicles and in different Major cities with the same result. That's my 2 cents worth that cost me a Benjamin and then some. I'll give it a generous 5 out of 10 for now.Ĭost: 119.00 plus Tax, $40 is a donation to the cause. Overall it's a $79.00 retail mount with a questionable hands-free, only a small incremental change in GPS accuracy and a useless bluetooth implementation. GPS: 6 (Only very slightly better that the built in GPS)īluetooth: 2 (Phone will not pair until docked, can't pair with other devices) Hands-Free: 4 (Weak, speaker is facing away from you, VOX'ing problem) They don't support the iPod touch and now they are coming out with a iPod specific mount, it has even less value because I can't use both devices on the same car kit. You also must remove any cover you have as there is no room for anything except the iPhone itself. Seems that the resistance force of the swivel is a few ounces to light. This is because the swivel is not centered and the iPhone is side heavy. When in horizontal mode the weight of the iPhone and the slightest bump in the road or touching the device will cause it to rotate almost vertical. Would have been nice to have a button to start and stop music, like my 5 year old bluetooth headset. The volume button, if you push it, sometime brings up the voice control, however it is well behind the iPhone and not easy to hit while the phone is docked. Does not make any sense.Īlso, they forgot about the voice control that can be activated with a bump of the answer button on most headsets. You can't, must dock to connect the bluetooth hands-free. I was also hoping that I could use the hands-free if not docked. I was hoping to be able to use the bluetooth to connect the GPS to other devices and apparently that is not possible. It uses Bluetooth to connect the hands-free and not the GPS. Looking like it may not be a good hands-free device. I have mixed feelings with the few calls I have made so far. The hands-free works, however it appears that it is not duplexed so road noise and vibrations seems to be causing the device to VOX (switch off the speaker when you are talking). The over all feel and quality of the device seems fair to good, however it should be priced about $30-$40 less to be a good value. The rotating lock that suctions it to the window is fairly good. The articulation of the mount is not as desirable as it appears in the advertisements. My iPhone snaps in fairly well and it's easy to rotate. I have used my new car kit for a few days and I'm a little disappointed with a few aspects of the device. It works, it's expensive and it's NOT a great value!!! ![]() |
